N-nitrosamine Testing for Rubber Products
N-Nitrosamines are carcinogenic and mutagenic compounds. They are present in elastomers, natural rubber latex products and can be in pharmaceutical applications that use elastomers.
N-Nitrosamines are formed from secondary amines which are generated by the decomposition of certain rubber accelerators which then react with nitrous oxides during the mixing and curing process. All nitrosamines samples are analysed using GC-NCD (Gas-Chromatography with Nitrogen Chemiluminescence detector) and our analytical measurement methods have proven themselves for a wide range of samples. Rubber Consultants routinely analyses volatile and semi-volatile N-nitrosamines and work according to various regulations, as listed below.

Applications:
- Balloons and Toys (Toy Safety Standard EN71 part 12:2016)
- Elastomers and Bottle teats (FDA Procedure)
- Gloves (EN12868:1999)
- Condoms (ISO29941:2010)
