TARRC & UNIVERSITY OF STRATHCLYDE LAUNCH WEST OF SCOTLAND KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER PARTNERSHIP (KTP) PROJECT

Posted

TARRC is excited to announce the official launch of its West of Scotland Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with the University of Strathclyde. This 30-month collaboration is focused on the commercialisation of TARRC’s cutting-edge anti-seismic devices, including:

  • Viscoelastic energy dissipator devices (VEDD) – second generation of TARRC's VEDDs developed to protect the superstructure from earthquake damage
  • Rubber joints – innovative solution for earthquake protection of masonry infill as well as controlling seismic response of the superstructure
  • Full-scale seismic testing facility – a state-of-the-art system for evaluating service performance of anti-seismic devices according to national and international standards

The kick-off meeting, held on 6 March 2025, marked a promising start to the project, with engaging discussions and a shared commitment to innovation in seismic protection. The collaboration between TARRC and the University of Strathclyde brings together expertise in engineering, materials science, and commercialisation, ensuring that these technologies can be successfully introduced to the market.

We look forward to sharing more updates as the project progresses!
