International Elastomer Conference 2018, Louisville, KY

Posted

Once again Rubber Consultants was pleased to participate at the ACS Rubber Division International Elastomer Conference 2018 at the Kentucky International Convention Center, Louisville, Kentucky from 9th-11th October 2018.

It is becoming quite clear that this has become the key annual meeting point for the international rubber industry.

Booth 555 was busy throughout the three days with visits from existing clients and potential new customers and contacts from countries across the globe including the UK!

Interest for the IRC2019 in London was high and therefore expectations for this event are that it is going to be a truly global conference and exhibition. Rubber Consultants were promoting the event for the organisers (the IOM3) and are proud Platinum Sponsors of next year's event to be held at the KIA Oval cricket ground from the 3rd-5th September 2019. We are pleased to announce that on Friday 6th September 2019 there is also a company visit to Rubber Consultants at Brickendonbury as part of the conference.

TARRC scientist Dr Anna Kepas-Suwara presented a paper at the conference titled Visualization of Polymer-Filler Interface using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) which was a resounding success. She presented in front of over 100 delegates with many of them asking questions after her talk and over the course of the next few days during the conference. Anna is an expert in her field of using AFM-based techniques to study polymer-filler interfaces of compounds particularly tire materials.

There was also 'Breaking News' at the conference when it was announced in the Show Daily that TARRC's Dr Pamela Martin had won the Sparks-Thomas Award for outstanding scientific contribution and innovation in the field of elastomers by a younger scientist, technologist and engineer by the ACS Rubber Division.

A fitting end to the conference was that Rubber Consultants received a five year Corporate Membership award along with several other prestigious companies who have supported the Rubber Division since the Corporate Membership scheme was introduced.
